A PhD is something you do after university if you want to keep studying, where you get to research a topic of your choice.
You can choose anything you are interested in, and you spend several years studying and becoming an expert in that topic.
For example, my PhD is a mix of computer science and biology.
It’s a doctorate – an advanced University degree. I think here in the UK, you can go directly from an undergraduate degree (usually a B.S. or Bachelor of Science) to a PhD. In the USA, you usually have to get a M.S. or Master of Science before the PhD.
