About Me:
I write code in the day and enjoy going out for a walk or cycle in the evening. In my spare time, I play drums in a band and games with friends.
-
My pronouns are:
he/him
-
My Work:
I write software apps using Python and research how AI can help improve energy production.
-
My Typical Day:
I get up and cycle to work for 8:15am. I check in with the project team to see what needs doing. Then I begin writing code. Once I have finished, I test my code. And I close out the day with some university study by 4:30pm.
-
Education:
I started my school journey at Dunmore primary school and then moved to John Mason secondary school when I was 11. This is where I studied my GCSEs and A-levels before moving on to the degree apprenticeship course that I am on now!
-
Qualifications:
At GCSE I studied:
- Triple Science
- Maths & Statistics
- English Literature & Language
- Graphic Design
- Business
- Creative IT
- Media
My GCSE exams happened during 2020 (Covid) which meant they were cancelled and I received the grades from my latest mock exams.
I learned from my GCSE subjects that I was better suited to logic-based subjects than creative subjects, so for my A-levels I studied:
- Maths
- Physics
- Computer Science
- Further Maths
And this time I did have to sit my exams!
-
Work History:
During my time at secondary school I had a variety of part-time jobs. My first ever job was delivering papers which I used to do every morning before school. I then got a job tutoring maths to younger students at a local education centre. During my A-levels (when I could drive) I had a job in the evening delivering pizzas.
-
Current Job:
In my current job, I work with different teams of people on different software projects. I help write code for controlling machines in dangerous environments, so this code needs to be very fast and safe. I also design and research AI and how it can improve our control code and help us with our science experiments.
-
Employer:
I work for the UK Atomic Energy Authority. We are interested in researching nuclear fusion (that is the process the sun uses) for making lots of clean renewable energy in the future. It is very difficult and needs many people with different backgrounds and experiences to help make it possible.
