About Me:
I live in a town called Shrewsbury on the beautiful River Severn but I’m originally from Ireland. I’ve always been interested in the natural environment and water particularly so I lot of what I’m interested in is related to those topics BUT I also enjoy cricket and ballroom dancing!

I really enjoy being outside in the environment, thinking about how things work and how I can make things better. In my role as a lecturer I get to directly influence students and their studies and love working with young people to help them get to where they want to be.
When I’m not doing the above then I really enjoy going to the gym, cycling, reading, playing cricket, scoring cricket, watching cricket (I’m a bit cricket mad) and I have a young daughter who keeps things interesting.
Favourite TV shows include Home and Away (why break a habit of a lifetime? ), period dramas like Downton Abbey and Bridgerton, and murder mysteries like Death in Paradise.

My Work:
I originally studied a degree in Environmental Science in Galway (in Ireland) and then did a masters in Environmental Engineering. I love the more physical side of the environment and enjoy the chemistry too. My PhD involved lots of messing around in boats and measuring things which I loved.
Nowadays my life is focused on developing courses in environmental management and in wildlife conservation and ecology. I spend a lot of my personal time exploring those wider topics to bring richness to my courses and make sure that we’re training our students to the best of their ability.

I also do a lot of research in the area where companies may ask me to develop their products or we do more innovative work with PhD students and masters students.
