      No, AI helps me a lot in my current job

      No – I think there is a lot of hype around AI and how it will change things. It WILL make things change, but jobs will still be around. They will be assisted by AI tools rather than replaced by them.

      I’m not afraid of AI taking my job, I’m afraid of someone thinking AI can do their computing work for them.
      I’ve used AI to improve my communication in documents and e-mails but as for coding, it is hit and miss depending on what you are asking it to do. Simple queries can be handled ok, but once you ask something vendor specific or if you use a term used predominantly for something else it gets confused.
      It will improve in the future but there will always be limits based on what information it has learned from.

    Yes and no. I’m concerned at how people are misusing AI to produce really bad music and to try to cheat on their university work. When used responsibly it can be a really helpful tool. However, there are some really interesting ethical questions about what AI should be able to do and I am worried that smart people will develop it faster than the law can keep up with.

    There’s always a shortage of skilled workers, and AI mostly displaces skilled jobs. Some jobs may need fewer people in future, but other jobs will need to be done – so in terms of jobs – I’m not worried for the future.
    (I am worried about misuse of the powerful AI tools and the associated continuation of the trend of the last decade or so of people blindly believing what they are told online. Deliberately or inadvertantly false information is easily produced).
