• Question: If you could design your own video game that combines your love of knitting, storytelling through film, and data analysis, also challenging or changing something about the gaming industry, what would the game be like, and how would you test it to make sure it’s both fun and meaningful?

I’d create “Pattern Weaver” – a mystery game where players solve crimes by analyzing data patterns hidden in textile designs. Players use virtual knitting tools to create items that unlock story clues. Each stitch pattern represents data points revealing character relationships and plot elements. This challenges the gaming industry by celebrating slow, mindful gameplay and traditionally underrepresented crafts as problem-solving tools. I would test for for fun by watching players’ body language during gameplay, asking players to rate enjoyment 1-10 after each level, analyzing how long they play voluntarily, and ask players to complete a survey of which elements they found most engaging. What game would you like to create? and how can you create a simple first version using a free online tool such as play.unity.com?
