I’m an engineer and I wanted to do this because I was interested in how computers can be used on practical items like engines! It’s very cool to see something work using your code.

I became a scientist because I wanted to make a positive impact in the world in a way that let me keep learning and thinking. A lot of advice I read when I started said that AI was going to be a big challenge in the coming years, so I decided to do a PhD on AI. Now I look at trying to build AI that can behave responsibly and tell right from wrong because it lets me look at lots of different topics like psychology and economics, as well as computer science.

To sum it up… I always had a knack for it. I struggled in a lot of subjects that didn’t quite come naturally for me but computing simply always reeled me in. I decided to go with that flow and continue pursuing it and I found that the more into it I got, the more fun it became!
