It doesn’t seem likely. There’s a lot we don’t know yet about how well people learn from AI teachers compared to human teachers. But there are also a lot of things AI is bad at teaching like social skills or moral responsibility, which human teachers are a lot better at. And a lot of people might not want themselves or their children to only be learning from AI. There’s definitely ways AI can help in schools, but it probably won’t take over entirely any time soon.

I don’t think AI “will take over schools”, but it will become a normal part of them (kind of like how personal computers did).
Think about this scenario we already navigated in the past: when computers first came into classrooms, we didn’t stop teaching handwriting or reading physical books; we just added new skills like typing, using software, staying safe online, and understanding how computers work.
AI feels like the next step of that shift. Students will probably need to learn how to use AI tools, understand how they work (and when not to trust them!), and think critically about the information they give. It’s more about schools adapting to include AI, not whether AI will “take over schools”

Great question… here’s my 2 cents.
Why it could:
AI is being experimented with for things such as remote teaching, monitoring registers using facial tracking and even marking of school work! You could one day find that your assignments are being automatically marked the moment you submit. As AI gets more powerful, we are trying to find new ways of using it for good and to make everyone’s lives easier. Why it couldn’t:
AI is not enough to teach a class. We will always need that human aspect for safeguarding, knowing right from wrong, making human judgements and even making sure the classes feel connected. If your teacher was a robot, sure they could teach you how to add numbers but could they truly teach you other skills in life that we learn from each other? -

I hope not! I think schools are places for socialising and nurturing as well as places for educating — it’s where we learn how to make friends and how to exist in society, which is arguably just as important as learning how to spell and do maths. AI can’t teach you that!

While you might imagine robot teachers taking over, the reality is more about AI becoming a super helpful assistant. It could personalise your learning, take away some of the boring tasks for teachers, create learning tools, give you instant feedback, and make learning easier and more fun for everyone.
However, school is also about human connection, understanding how you feel, getting creative, and having teachers who know best – things robots can’t fully replace. So, the future of schools will likely be a team effort, with AI helping teachers and students in cool new ways, but with awesome human teachers still leading the way!
