🥁 Drumroll, please! 🥁

🥇 Henry Duke

Henry is a software engineer in the Aerospace and Defence industry. He works on software to support planes and helicopters. He works with both the RAF and the British Army. Outside of work, you’ll find him training in aerial silks!

👏 Congratulations! 🥳

Henry has taken part in 66 Chats this year. He has brought insight into his job in aerospace and defence – from waking up at 6am to work on computer programmes and applications to casually flying in a Chinook. Henry has openly shared tips for students on writing a CV, choosing subjects or career paths – mainly saying: Choose what you enjoy!

A few words from Henry

It has been a real pleasure taking part in Chats with students from around the country through I’m a Computer Scientist, Get Me Out of Here this academic year, and to come away as the most voted Computer Scientist was a completely unexpected honour!

While all the questions that I have been asked have given me an opportunity to reflect on both my professional and personal life, the real winners are the students who ask those questions. I really want to thank them, not only for all the votes but, more importantly, for all the excellent, considered and sometimes even off-the-wall questions I have been asked!

My thanks also go to the whole I’m a Scientist team for the fantastic work they do to run such an amazing service.

While I’m still formulating a plan for how to spent the prize money,  I am really looking forward to lots more chats next year!

How is the winner chosen?

Each student has 1 vote to give to a computer scientist each academic year, and whoever gets the most votes, wins! It’s as simple as that.

But wait, there’s more: The winner earns £500 to spend in further STEM engagement!

Want to choose who wins those £500? Vote for your favourite computer scientist in the Ask page!💬
