Some things are hard, but itโs worth doing anyway โ I love science but it hasnโt been an easy route to where I am now. But everything Iโve done has brought me here, the good stuff and the less good.
I would also tell my younger self to make more noise and try and talk in public, because itโs fun once you can make yourself do it!
Hard to say, probably push for that boating qualification and go diving more. Follow that diving qualification dream. Oh and definitely focus more and try and get one publication. And I would tell my younger self that I do become a marine biologist.
Passing your lifeguard qualification was a very sensible decision! It is a straightforward part time job and will help you get a role as a swimming instructor in 3rd year.
More broadly, keep going with the student societies as you will make enduring friendships as a result. Also, no matter how hard each day is, you will survive and thrive!
โDonโt be afraid to do things by yourself, you donโt need to avoid things if your friends are not interestedโ โ I turned down a few things because my core group of friends werenโt interested rather than just going and making more friends. Itโs something Iโve always regretted.
