      I did not do an apprenticeship but I can tell you a bit more information regarding this. For software engineering you can generally expect a starting salary of around 24k. This is usually due to the fact that the apprenticeship pays for additional qualifications, whether that be a degree or certifications. Over time you will be able to progress this salary as a regular worker.

      When I finished school apprenticeships weren’t as popular as they are now so I went to university but I think I would have loved to do an apprenticeship (if I could have worked out which one to do).
      How much you earn will depend on the industry and company you go to work for – the apprentices I’ve worked with have all started around £18k but after 4-5 years they are around £27k when they complete their apprenticeship.
