This will be a fascinating area… AI is already playing a role assisting the interpretation of x-rays, MRI scans etc and helping the clinician focus on the most complex cases.

I doubt AI will replace doctors generally, but it will increasingly assist in narrowing down the diagnosis options etc. I think we will always want to hear the diagnosis from a human though.

In research, AI has made huge strides in areas like protein folding and genetics – I’m hopeful it will help the medical research community make even faster progress.
