      I can definitely see how AI can be used more and more in my job / jobs like mine, especially for imaging applications. In fact it’s actually being used more and more (there’s a lot of research on machine learning to improve imaging speed or accuracy etc.). AI can be very useful, as long as it’s being used in the right way (rather than as a black box).

      short answer YES for sure. AI already helps me code and I think this is a really good thing, I get projects done much faster now than I did even a year ago. But I think it’s really important that I understand how this code works, and don’t just totally trust AI.

      As an AI researcher, it would be hard to use less of it! But using AI to do research is a popular topic at the moment, and a very contentious one. On one hand, it definitely can help with searching for information and writing reports, but on the other it may make up a lot of the information it gives us, or be used to submit fake papers for research that never actually happened. Like any tool, it’s going to need some careful inspection to decide what the best way to use it in research is.

    I use tools like ChatGPT to generate prototype code (computer programs) for complex routines. Of course, I have to check them for accuracy, security, functionality etc., but it’s a good start.

    AI is consistently being used in cyber, though most people remain unaware. Security operations centers (usually external organisations that help detect and resolve cyber issues) use AI to automate tasks, detect sketchy signatures and improve response times. This can be as simple as teaching AI to detect if a cyber attack is happening and alert people, sometimes even learning the steps to take if it happens. How SOCs work is normally not talked about often but AI is being used much more than you might expect!
