Great question! I started my current role at 20 and will be leaving at 21. Why? It is a year long role that lets me study at University straight after gaining the necessary skills in cyber through experience. This is called a placement job, more commonly known as a year long “internship.” If you are aiming for University, take a placement year! It is definitely worth it.

I started my PhD at 29, and by the time I finish I’ll be 33. At the moment I want to stay on as a researcher at universities until I decide to do something else, so I have no plans to leave yet.
